1. Use of the Application

Book Scout helps readers discover new books through personalized recommendations, including AI-generated themes and content alerts. Users can save books, organize them into bookshelves, and upgrade to Scout Plus features.

2. User Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to use Book Scout (or older if required by your local laws). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and any activity that occurs under it.

3. Subscriptions and Payments

Book Scout offers both free and Scout Plus features. Scout Plus features may include more recommendations, larger shelves, additional themes, and lifetime access. Subscriptions are handled through Apple or Google using RevenueCat. You may manage or cancel your subscription through your App Store or Google Play settings. Refund eligibility is governed by the refund policy of the platform through which you made your purchase (Apple App Store or Google Play). We do not process refunds directly.

4. AI-Generated Content

Book Scout uses artificial intelligence to generate book-related recommendations and content. These results are suggestions and should not be interpreted as factual or comprehensive. The app does not guarantee the accuracy, safety, or appropriateness of any book or recommendation.

5. Intellectual Property

All content on the app, including branding, design, AI models, and recommendations, is owned by Cool Slingshot, LLC or its licensors. You may not reproduce, copy, or distribute any part of the app without permission.

6. User Data

By using the app, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described in our Privacy Policy. You may request to delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting heybookscout@gmail.com.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the app for unlawful purposes, harass other users, disrupt service, reverse engineer the app, or submit misleading information.

8. Modifications and Updates

We may update or change features, pricing, or these terms at any time. You are encouraged to review them periodically. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept those changes.

9. Third-Party Services

Book Scout relies on third-party services including Firebase (Google), OpenAI, RevenueCat, and Stripe to deliver its features. These services operate independently and under their own terms and privacy policies. Cool Slingshot, LLC is not responsible for any outage, data loss, data breach, or other failure attributable to a third-party service provider. Your use of Book Scout constitutes your acknowledgment of and agreement to this limitation.

10. Security and Data Incidents

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized parties will never gain access to your information. In the event of a material data breach that affects your personal information, we will make reasonable efforts to notify affected users in a timely manner. Cool Slingshot, LLC is not liable for any damages resulting from unauthorized access to your data that occurs despite our reasonable security measures, or from a breach attributable to a third-party service provider.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

Book Scout is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, security, or uninterrupted availability. We expressly disclaim any warranty that the app will be free of errors, that data will not be lost or corrupted, or that unauthorized third parties will not access your information.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cool Slingshot, LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including data loss, unauthorized access, or service interruptions. In no event shall our total cumulative liability to you for any and all claims exceed the greater of (a) fifty U.S. dollars ($50.00) or (b) the total amount you paid to Cool Slingshot, LLC in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory on which the claim is based.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles.
